Volunteerism Marathon Day - Young people’s important role in community development

The young volunteers of the city of Peja were engaged in cleaning their area by collecting plastic waste which was delivered to the relevant companies.

This was the final activity of the "Volunteerism Marathon Day" carried out on April 9, 2022  in the city of Peja, Kosovo.

After attending the meetings, the young people of the city of Peja were engaged in this activity online within the project expressed their willingness to help clean up the city.

Initially, some young people were identified who voluntarily shared the information in connection with the project and voluntary commitment to other young people. After the presentation was made with the purpose of the project in some neighborhoods of the city, the activity continued in the field where the young people were engaged in cleaning their area by collecting plastic waste which was delivered to the relevant companies.

The overall goal of the project is related to public awareness in the implementation of activities which aim to protect the environment mainly against plastic waste.

The project will be implemented in the cross-border area between Albania and Kosovo, creating and promoting the tradition of "Volunteerism Marathon Day" through the activation of young people as a community that should undertake initiatives and play an important role in community development.

"Volunteerism Marathon Day" project was implemented by the Youth Act Center as well as the Local Democracy Agency of Kosovo, and is financed by the Youth Cooperation Fund - The Balkan Forum program.
